Helping Canadians beat the rising grocery bill.
The average Canadian family spends thousands more on groceries today than just a few years ago. Deal Dish fights back β turning your local flyer into recipes built from this week's deals, so every household can save 30%+ at checkout without the hours of planning.

Our mission
Cheaper meals. Less stress for Canadian families.
We built Deal Dish because no Canadian household should have to choose between cooking well and staying on budget. Every feature in the app exists to make the weekly grocery run cheaper, faster, and a whole lot less stressful.
Turn flyers into meals
Every recipe in the app is built from ingredients that are actually on sale at your store this week β not wishful thinking.
Built for Canadians
Canadian banners, Canadian prices, Canadian brands β designed around the stores you already walk into.
Independent & ad-free
No investors, no ads, no paid placements. Just weekly updates focused on helping Canadian families stretch their grocery budget.
Refreshed every week
Flyers change every Thursday. So do the recipes, the shopping lists, and the savings you can actually capture.
Who built this
One founder. One mission.

Founder & solo developer
Kai Ohno
Based in Mississauga, Ontario. Working on Deal Dish independently, with regular updates shaped by what Canadian families actually run into at the checkout.
My goal is simple: help every Canadian save real money on groceries, one weekly shop at a time.β
Deal Dish started as a way to turn the weekly flyers I was already checking into recipes I could actually cook β with a shopping list built automatically around the deals.
The goal now is much bigger: help every Canadian household eat well for less. With grocery prices still climbing, the work is just getting started β more stores, smarter recipes, and a real plan to reach every family staring down the weekly bill.
How we're different
Most apps add another tab to your phone.
Deal Dish does the work.
Without Deal Dish
Saving money is a second job.
- Flip through five flyer apps every Thursday.
- Pick recipes, then hope the ingredients are on sale.
- Build a shopping list manually, aisle by aisle.
- Overpay at checkout β or miss deals you never saw.
With Deal Dish
We do the work. You get the savings.
- We scan 1,102 Canadian flyers every week and surface the real best prices first.
- We build recipes from what's actually on sale at your store this week.
- We assemble a sectioned list β Produce, Meat, Dairy, Pantry β and flag store-specific deals youβd miss in the weekly flyer.
- You walk in, spend less, waste nothing.
Where we shop
13 retailers. Coast to coast.
We track flyer prices weekly across the Canadian banners shoppers actually use. Don't see your store? Suggest it β we add new retailers all the time.

Tracking flyer prices across 1,103 stores β refreshed every week.
The journey
Where we've been. Where we're going.

A student on a budget, living on his own
I was a student starting to live on my own, learning to cook for myself and struggling to keep my grocery budget under control. Every time I walked back into the store, prices had gone up again β it felt like the receipt got longer every week. I got tired of watching shrinkflation and every other trick quietly squeeze the budget out of Canadians. So I decided to build something that actually helps β an app every Canadian could use to save on groceries and stay ahead of their bills.

Started solo development
Began the solo build β laying out the concept, the architecture, and the foundation of Deal Dish. Started working on the algorithms that turn a weekly flyer into recipes you can actually cook. Every line written by me.

Released Deal Dish on the App Store
After over a year of solo building, Deal Dish went public on iOS β Canadian banners, deal-driven recipes, a sectioned shopping list, and a barcode scanner, all shipped in one launch.

Shot up to the Top 100
Within the first month of release, Deal Dish climbed into the Top 100 Food & Drink apps on the Canadian App Store. Canadians were finding it on their own β no ad budget could fake that.
- Mar 2026
Took it down for a month to rebuild
Pulled Deal Dish down for a month and redeveloped it from the ground up to scale properly β expanding from a handful of stores to 1,103 stores across 13 Canadian banners. The rebuild is what makes everything you see today possible.
- TodayYou are here
1,103 stores Β· 13 banners, live
That's the step I'm at now. Weekly flyers pulling across a thousand-plus Canadian stores, recipes refreshed every week, and thousands of households planning meals around what's actually on sale.
